Biography

Melissa has been a member of the Foundation board since its inception serving mainly on the committee to select and award mini-grants for teachers. Melissa and her husband, Sid Easley were elected to serve terms on the Murray Independent School Board in the 1980s and 90s. Their sons Eric and Don Easley attended 12 grades as Tigers and graduated 1988 and 1990 as honor students.

Melissa graduated from Murray State with an Elementary Education degree in 1964. She taught school in Fayette County and later was employed as a Social Worker with the New York State Department of Child Welfare in Newburgh, NY. In 1990 she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Murray State and was employed at the Murray Calloway County Hospital as a Home Health and Hospice Nurse.

Melissa has always followed the Tigers if not in the stands in the LEDGER & TIMES when their noted accomplishments appear. She appreciates the Superintendent, teachers, coaches, staff, volunteers and donors that help to make this school system outstanding.
