Biography

After a 41 year teaching career (band), the last 37 as the band director at Murray Middle School and the assistant band director at Murray High School, I was honored to be invited to join the foundation in 2025. I joined the board because I believe in the mission of the Murray Independent School District and have seen first hand the many ways this Foundation has served to assist teachers and students alike achieve ever growing levels of excellence. I am excited to be a part of this esteemed group of individuals and look forward to continuing to be a part of the MISD Tradition.

I grew up in Murfreesboro, Tn where I graduated from Riverdale High School and earned my Bachelor of Music Education from Middle Tn State University. After getting my first teaching position with Henderson Co. Schools, I earned my Master of Music Education from Murray State. Then after moving to Murray in 1987, I earned my Rank 1 in Education and eventually my National Board Certification in Adolescent Music.

I continue to volunteer with the Tiger Band and accompany the Murray High School Choir. Additionally, I continue to be active with our state music education association – KMEA; assist with other band programs, conduct honor bands, judge Concert and Solo & Ensemble Festival throughout the region and present at Professional Development opportunities.
